The Public Appointments Unit (PAU) in The Executive Office has a central policy responsibility for public appointments which centres around encouraging best practice across departments, and the publication of an annual report which lists and analyses public appointments made by departments. The PAU also produces on a regular basis a list of forthcoming vacancies which it issues to interested individuals/groups and advertises it in the local newspapers and on its website.
